<br />
My Main blog, <a href="http://rozinbrittany.blogspot.com/"><span style="color: #003300;">An English Rose In France</span> </a> Has a few recipes on so I thought I would gather them all together on a separate blog. Ignore the date at the top on this first post, blogs work by showing the latest posts first, so by using a random date in the future this stays on top. No copy and paste of other peoples food, all the recipes have been prepared, cooked and photographed here at Half Acre Farm.<br />
Please don't be offended if I don't reply to a comment you may make, I only check my last posting as I have the same recipe on <a href="http://rozinbrittany.blogspot.com/">"An English Rose"</a>.<br />
I've started an index of sorts here, just click on the recipe you want to see.<br />

Ciabatta literally means Slipper
bread, I will admit to using a bread mix for this recipe, but will make
it all from scratch soon.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/734138_10151573922898594_1739625165_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/734138_10151573922898594_1739625165_n.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
500gm of Ciabatta bread mix into the bread maker with 300ml of water and a table spoon of olive oil.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You
will need to check for the setting on your machine, but you want the
machine to make the dough and prove it. Remove it from the machine and
knock the dough back, stretch the dough out and place either on a tray
or in a dish, like this;</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/75059_10151573437128594_1763231533_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/75059_10151573437128594_1763231533_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then push olives and sun dried tomato into the dough.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/734103_10151573459583594_2086141155_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/734103_10151573459583594_2086141155_n.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Getting ready for winter, Pauls bringing his vegetables up as there ready, I'm cooking what he brings but started doing my winter soups.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A large pumpkin,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="320" src="http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/262892_3414776058080_1318568273_n.jpg" width="240" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Cut into half and scrape out the seeds, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/310483_3414776618094_1243555215_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/310483_3414776618094_1243555215_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Cut into wedges then peel</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/281916_3414777378113_403766957_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/281916_3414777378113_403766957_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This next photo shows the pumpkin in a pan to boil with chicken stock with garlic, onion and curry powder, but after I did this I decided to roast the rest, gave a much nicer flavour.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/285561_3414776818099_1611952950_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/285561_3414776818099_1611952950_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The seeds were washed and dried, I'm going to save some for planting next year, the rest I will roast to eat later.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/422895_3414777018104_1284360726_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://sphotos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/422895_3414777018104_1284360726_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Once the pumpkins were roasted I put the pumpkin I boiled with chicken stock and the roasted pumpkin in my blender.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/399651_3414778378138_1496135227_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://sphotos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/399651_3414778378138_1496135227_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I bagged up a lot of the puree and put the bags in the freezer, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/318395_3414780978203_2039768191_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/318395_3414780978203_2039768191_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then used the left over chicken stock to thin the puree I had left into a lovely soup.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/546359_3414781098206_1127265054_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/546359_3414781098206_1127265054_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Serve with ground black pepper and crunchy bread</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/184164_3414779578168_523261772_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/184164_3414779578168_523261772_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

</div><div style="text-align: center;">Peach Cobbler</div><div style="text-align: center;">( so simple)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">250gm sugar<br />
250gm flour<br />

100 butter, melted<br />
2 tsp. baking powder<br />
couple of drops of vanilla essence</div><div style="text-align: center;">Big tin of peaches (I think it was 500gm)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">300ml of cold water</div><div style="text-align: center;">10g Salt</div><div style="text-align: center;">500gm bread flour</div><div style="text-align: center;">2 satchets Levure boulangére (dried yeast)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/599712_3138192063653_1183229753_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/599712_3138192063653_1183229753_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Mix the ingredients together, then place onto a floured surface and knead well.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Cadbury's Crunchie Bars are one of my favorite candy bars. They are also my dentist's favorite candy bar, because if I eat enough of these I keep him in business. This is a Nigella Lawson recipe, from her book How to Be a Domestic Goddess. She calls it cinder toffee, but for me it will always be the crunchy part of the Crunchy Bar.<br />
I have made this a couple of times. Quite successful. Everyone loves to eat it. It is so moorish you will find that you can't stop eating it and lunch or dinner will go by the wayside. I also think you can make it with Maple Syrup but I haven't tried that yet .. and maybe it will only be possible with honey? ! <br />
<br />
Ingredients <div> <ul><li>3/4 cup <a href="http://www.recipezaar.com/library/sugar-139"><u><span style="color: #0066cc;">sugar</span></u></a> </li>
<li>4 tablespoons <a href="http://www.recipezaar.com/library/corn-syrup-138"><u><span style="color: #0066cc;">light corn syrup</span></u></a> (Golden Syrup or if you don't have it, try Maple Syrup) </li>
<li>1 tablespoon <a href="http://www.recipezaar.com/library/baking-soda-7"><u><span style="color: #0066cc;">baking soda</span></u></a> </li>
</ul></div><h3>Directions</h3><ol><li>Grease an 8 inch square pan with butter. </li>
<li>Off the heat (that means on the counter), mix the sugar and the syrup in a heavy-bottomed saucepan (use a pretty big saucepan, you'll thank me later). </li>
<li>Now put the pan over a medium to low heat and simmer for 3-4 minutes (Nigella bases this on using an 8-inch diameter saucepan). DO NOT MIX IT BUT JUST ROLL IT AROUND. </li>
<li>The mixture is ready to come off the heat when it's a thick, bubbling bunch of gook, the color of light sand and no darker -- don't let it get any darker than that, or you'll end up with burnt and smelly sugar goop! </li>
<li>Take the stuff off the heat and quickly whisk in the baking soda. Try and get all the baking soda mixed in. No white bits ! </li>
<li>Watch the caramel foam up like something out of a sci-fi film (this is the part where you thank me for telling you to use a large pot). </li>
<li>Pour the foamy stuff onto non stick baking paper. Don't mess with it !!! Do not touch until it has set hard. Some people just pour over melted chocolate. </li>
<li>You can try and cut it into squares, but it will be a fruitless task. </li>
<li>Best bet is to just bash it into a bunch of different shaped pieces. </li>
<li>You can dip the pieces into melted chocolate to make your own Cadbury's Crunchy bars, or you could fold splinters of this into either homemade or bought vanilla icecream for honeycomb ice cream. </li>

As soon as its cooked I will post another photograph, but this stew on here will last two of us at least 3 days. I may blend it down on day 3 to make a soup.<br />
<br />
Talking of soup, as I was cutting the vegetables up for the stew I did a few extra carrots and leeks, I put them in a saucepan, with a couple of cloves of garlic and simmered the veg in chicken stock.<br />

3 egg<br />
3 grams sea salt <br />
250 grams buckwheat flour (farine noir)<br />
50 grams all purpose flour <br />
50 grams melted butter or olive oil<br />
<br />
Whisk 250 ml of the water with egg and salt to combine.<br />
In a separate bowl, mix both flours together. Make a well in the centre. Gradually whisk in water mixture. When you have a smooth paste, whisk in remaining water to make a thin batter. (The consistency similar to 35% cream.) You may not use all 500 ml . Set aside at room temperature for 2 hours.<br />
Stir melted butter or oil into batter when ready to cook galettes.<br />
<br />
Filling.<br />
Make a bechamel sauce and add the ingredients you want, bacon, boiled potatoes, sausage, or vegetables. Try a full English breakfast on/in a galette, or a Toulouse sausage with ketchup wrapped as Breton hot-dog.<br />
